On Friday, May 9, The Great Lakes Adiban hosted a panel at the 2025 International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan, entitled “Labor and Power in a Global Context.” The following papers were presented:

  • Expert Maidens: Palace Women, Eunuchs, the Emperor, and Bureaucratic Labor in Khatayi’s Book of China (Kaveh L. Hemmat, Benedictine Univ.)
